DDA to start Rs 300-crore projects in Dwarka
NEW DELHI: Union minister for housing and urban affairs Hardeep Singh Puri will lay the foundation of several developmental projects of Delhi Development Authority worth around Rs 300 crore in Dwarka on Monday.
The projects include a golf course, sports complexes, foot overbridges, the airport drain system, cycle tracks, and an Utsav Pandal.
The minister will lay the foundation of a sports complex in Sector 8 Dwarka, a DDA spokesperson said. “It will be a center of excellence for wrestling, weightlifting, boxing, judo, and kabaddi. The project will cost Rs 66 crore and is likely to be completed within 24 months,” he added.
“Another sports complex in Dwarka Sector 23 will be a center of excellence for football and will be completed in 24 months at a cost of Rs 39 crore,” the spokesperson said.
A cycle track is also proposed in Sector 11 at a cost of Rs 9 crore and is likely to be completed in April next year.
DDA Land Pooling will also lay the foundation of four-foot overbridges being built at a cost of Rs 12 crore with an August 2020 deadline. “The FOBs will provide a safe crossing facility to more than 16,200 pedestrians per day. It will reduce traffic congestion and improve traffic speed,” the spokesperson claimed.
“It will provide pedestrian connectivity between neighborhood areas in Sector 1 with sector 7, Madhu Vihar with Sector 4 & 5 NSIT with Sulahkul Mandir and District Court with General Hospital,” he added.
An Utsav Pandal is also proposed to be built in Sector 10 Dwarka, which will be a facility for the community to conduct social functions and community activities. The target date of completion for the pandal is June 2020.
The Union minister will also lay the foundation of an airport drain at Dwarka. “The drain will have a discharge capacity of about 70,000 liters per second,” he said.
